Our History
Equestrian sport in Barbados has deep roots. In the 1960s, the Barbados Show Jumping Federation (BSF) was formed and, alongside the Barbados Polo Club and Barbados Turf Club, represented the horse world in Barbados.
Following the dissolution of the BSF, the Barbados Equestrian Association was established in the 1970s, with Sir Denys Williams serving as its first President. Since then, the BEA has become the principal governing body for equestrian sport in Barbados.
In 1992, Dressage was officially amalgamated into the Association under the guidance of the first Dressage Chairperson, Mrs. Elisabeth Roachford.
